Surf Fishing Tips ? Fish any beach in the world

Surf fishing at the beach on the ocean can get real exciting. In this article I will outline surf fishing tips I have learned through the years that anyone can use. Some tips have been acquired through personal experience and from other successful surf fishing friends.

First you need to make sure you have the adequate equipment. A fishing rod that is between 10 feet and 15 feet long is the ideal length in order to achieve good casting distance and leverage. The fishing reel can be a spinning reel size 6000 up to an 8000 size with a good drag system and good line capacity for heavier line such as 17 to 25 pound test. One thing to remember about fishing in the ocean, you never know what you will catch, so you need to be prepared with the proper heavy equipment to handle a 30 pound sting ray or a large blue fish that have giant teeth, not to mention the occasional shark. Sometimes you will catch small fish like whiting or ladyfish that are too small for a heavy rod, but being prepared for the big one is really what you want.

Choosing where to fish is another choice to be made. If you are at a home or condo on the ocean front you would most likely fish right out front. Then look for activity on top of the water, like birds diving into the water feeding on bait fish. Where there are small fish there are big fish not too far away. Fish close to them if you can, otherwise get out your polarized sunglasses and look for bait fish near where you are standing. If you don't see any, just cast out to where the waves break and let your bait float in the sandy trenches the waves create. That is where fish will look for food.

Always look at the tide chart for your area and pick your fishing times around high tides. The best time is usually 2 hours before and one to two hours after high tide. Surf fishing at these times can usually yield the most activity. Also try early morning and early evening which is normally a good fishing time. Coupled with high tide, this time frame can be very exciting and productive.

Other fishing gear you need will be a 5 gallon bucket to carry your bait, drinking water, towel, knife, cutting board for cutting up clams etc and rod stand. Plus you may want another carry all for everything mentioned after you put some fish in the bucket for cleaning later. You should also consider using a steel leader and a good hook rig such as a pompano rig or a strong steel hook attached to the steel leader. For sinkers you can use the pyramid style or the sputnik style. I use the sputnik style because it sticks in the sand and allows the bait to float in the water. The weight of the sinker or weight depends on how rough the surf is. The pyramid style can tend to roll with the surf and back to shore again.

Surf fishing tips like these can help you get started fishing the surf. Always check out the local bait shops to buy bait and ask what's been biting lately, then gear up accordingly.

What to Look For in a Fish Reel?

There are two basic classifications of fish reels: the conventional and the fixed-spool. Conventional reels are commonly used in saltwater fishing. It works via revolving spools. Fixed-spool fishing reels on the hand have immobile spools.

Fixed-spool reels are cheaper than conventional or multiplier reels. These are best for inexperienced users. The fixed-spool reel is designed with a post or axle where the spool rotates. The post and the rod point in the same direction. It is also equipped with a bail arm which draws the fishing line. The bail arm moves in and out to lay down the line properly. It can be opened to make a cast. Then hold the line using your fingertip and shoot. The line will then fly with the bait.

Multiplier reel is expensive and heavier than fixed-spool. Its post is perpendicular with the rod. It takes an expert to handle it well. Some models come with a guide in properly laying the fishing line. Others may require your hand to guide the line back to the spool when retrieving it.

Fishing reels can also be classified as spinning, spincasting, or baitcasting. The most common of these three types is the spinning reel. It is a fixed-spool fishing reel. The housing is parallel to the axis of the rod. The handle is turned to spin the housing around the spool.

Spinning reels range in sizes from very light to medium-large. These are less sensitive compared to baitcasting reels. Big spinning reels are sometimes bulky to accommodate heavy bait and lure. Backlash is not likely to happen when using the spinning type.

A baitcasting reel is conventional. It is small and conveniently fits the hand. It can be used for small saltwater fish. Such type is sensitive to even slight movements at the end of the line. However, backlash is possible to occur during casting and it is not suitable for ultra light line size.

Spincasting is somewhat a combination of the conventional and fixed-spool reel. It is very easy to use this type and is recommended for use to beginners. It is also called push button reels because a simple push of the button is what it only takes for it to work. However, it is not very sensitive to movements at the end of the line.

The features of fishing reels will be your guide in shopping for a good one. At the same time, identify what kind of an enthusiast are you. Match your fish reel to your skill level for a most wonderful experience each time you hit the waters to fish.

Saltwater fishing either for livelihood or sport demands a strong fishing reel. Get a high performing reel if you want to catch the biggest fish. Penn International is a credible big fish reels maker. They offer international reels, conventional, baitcast and spinning reels.

Everol is another brand that has been providing exquisite reels since 1958. This Italian company uses the best anti-corrosive materials in their products. Battenkill Large Arbor Big Game Reel is also made of the highest quality. It is suitable for hard-fighting big game fish.

Reel weights are significant for the good performance of the reel. The weight of the fishing line must conform to the design of the fishing reel. Sinkers or weights are needed to place the fishing bait deeper in the water. Reel weights have various kinds and sizes. Sliding, split shots, trolling, casting or dipsey are the typical types of reel weights.

Trout Fishing Tips to Help You Reel In More Fish

If you believe that knowledge is power, then you can probably also believe that knowing some pertinent trout fishing tips and tricks can lead to catching more fish. It only makes sense that doing anything in the most efficient manner will produce the best results, and fishing is no exception. A little fishing knowledge is bring-home-the-fish power!

If you don't have an experienced fisherman to guide you in your fishing excursions, grab hold of the following tips and commit them to memory. You WILL catch more trout by using these techniques and suggestions. If you are going fishing anyways, why not catch more fish and have the most fun you can?

Practice casting before you get to the water. That way, you can drop your lure right where you want it the first time and reduce the chances of spooking the fish.

Use a lightweight rod and reel. Trout as a rule are not big fish (unless you are fishing in Alaska maybe). You will feel the hits better with lighter equipment and also sense what the fish is doing as you play him.

Fish have a great sense of smell. Leave the cologne and after shave at home. They won't appreciate it. Avoid smoking if possible as the smell will transfer to line and lure.

They see well also, so dress to blend in with the back ground. The less they see of you, the better chance to hook some.

When approaching the water, try acting more like a hunter and sneak up to it. Fish get spooked seeing fishermen walking around.

Approach a river fishing spot from downstream. There is a good chance the trout are facing upstream to watch for insects and other food floating downstream.

Fish also have an acute sense of hearing through vibrations in the water. Any walking around or dropping things in the water will send the warning signal to the fish to beware of humans with hooks.

Keep the talking to a minimum and leave the radio at home to avoid disturbing the fish.

Trout congregate at certain areas of a stream. Learn where these are and fish them for all they are worth. "Read the water" when you first arrive to decide where to cast that bait or lure.

Trout like cool, well-oxygenated water, so one spot to find them is in a pool below a waterfall or rapids. This is where you will find the larger fish. Fish are territorial, so the smaller fish will be chased out of the prime locations.

Trout will be nearer the surface when the water is cooler and deeper when the weather and the water are warmer.

Trout, like most fish, love cover, so get that fly or lure under overhanging banks and near rocks and floating logs. Drag it across their noses and entice them to come out and take a bite.

To conserve energy, trout won't fight the current, but will hang out just outside of the current in a stream and watch for food floating down. Make your fly float past them and they will be tempted to strike.

Vegetation makes a nice hideaway for trout and provides the oxygen they crave. Carefully fish areas where plants are providing cover to coax a trout out of hiding.

Trout feed most at dawn and dusk, so 45 minutes before and after these times will be the ideal window of opportunity.

Try to use bait that is obtained locally and that the fish would normally eat as prey. A local delicacy that a trout is familiar with will be more apt to be eaten when it is on the end of your fishing line.

The same applies to lures and flies. Try to use those that look like some local creature that the trout already preys upon.

Practice catch and release if possible to insure that there will be trout left for the future.

When unhooking a trout, wet your hands before handling him and handle as little and as gently as possible. The slime coating on the fish's skin can be easily damaged and cause injury to the fish.

Hold a tired trout upright in the water while releasing until it swims away under its own power.

Try to minimize the gear you carry. Use a fishing vest instead of a tackle box if possible. It is easier to move around if you are traveling light.

Dressing in layers allows you to remove clothing if too hot and add layers if you are cold.

A hat, sunscreen and bug spray will be welcomed if you need them and longed for if you don't have them.

A little fishing etiquette is always in order, especially when around other fishermen. Try to follow the "Do unto others..." rule and respect the rights of other anglers.

Don't go splashing around where others are fishing and spook the fish on them.

Keep the noise down.

Don't intrude on a fishing spot that is already occupied by another fisherman.

And the best trout fishing tips and tricks of all - catch lots of fish and HAVE FUN!

Want a Good Catch of Fish? Find a Right Fishing Reels!

Fishing reel variety can be quite difficult if you are new to the fishing sport, because they come in all shapes, sizes, designs, and amounts.

Fishing is the pursuit of catching fish. There are many fishing methods such as trapping, netting, gathering and angling. Additionally, the term fishing is useful to haunting other aquatic animals such as different types of shellfish, turtles, squids, frogs and other edible marine invertebrates. The term fishing is not commonly applied to haunting aquatic mammals like whales. The term "whaling" is more appropriate or other profitable fish farming.

Fishing is an antiquated and universal practice with several techniques and traditions. It has been changed by advance technological developments.

In addition to food providing harvesting fish, fishing is both a recreational and professional sport.

Taking fishing either recreational /professional sports or way of living, you need to have a proper and effective equipment to make your fishing venture a successful one. Fishing reels are one of those various tools used in fishing. Fishing reel variety can be quite difficult if you are new to the fishing sport, because they come in all sizes, shapes, designs, and amounts. Some basic understanding of the types of fishing reels available and the uses for which they are designed can be absolutely beneficial before setting out to buy a new fishing rig. Making yourself knowledgeable to fishing reels will not only reward you with the certainty that you are buying the right reel, but are likely to save you a lot of money.

Here is some of the basis fishing reels existing for your fishing undertaking. First, there are four basic types of fishing reels that includes the spin casting reel, the spinning reel, the casting or bait-casting reel, and the fly fishing reel. The purpose of each type is the same and it is to catch fish, however, the techniques for casting and using each type is quite different.

The Spin casting Reel is the most basic type of fishing reel, and is the type that most young fishermen set out with. This reel is completely enclosed in a cover with a small hole at the end of it, from which the line plays out. There is a spindle inside the housing that secures the line, and there is a trigger on the backside of the reel that looses the line for casting. This type of reel is a preferred for beginners because it doesn't tangle easily and it cast very easily. The one major disadvantage of the spin casting reel is that it does not cast as far as some of the other fishing reel types.

The Spinning Reel is the common type of reel you will come across. This reel has an expose, visible, spool with a wire loop called a bail. This bail moves around the spool as you crank the line back in. It also guides the fishing line back onto the spool. These types of reels usually have some kind of drag adjustment, as well as an anti-reverse mechanism that stops the line from playing back out when you decide to stop cranking. These reels usually suspended below the rod, while the spin casting reel is mounted on top of the rod. The main disadvantage of the spinning reel is that it tangles much easier than a spin-casting reel. This is compensating by the fact that a spinning reel can cast much advance.

Now that you know some of the types of reels obtainable and the ways in which each are used, you can safely decide which type of fishing reel is reasonable for you.
