fishing rod building question?

Can silk thread be used to wrap the guides on a fly rod or should I just stick with nylon? Is polyester OK?

if it is silk rod wrapping thread, fine. it was traditionally used on fine split bamboo rods. now l guess everyone is using nylon. sewing thread is too rough and has lots of small bits sticking out.
l would NOT use the NCP winding thread on a fly rod. l would also not use color preserver. they look much nicer and professional with a translucent finish. and DON'T use anything larger than size A.
file the ends of the feet of the guides thin to give a smooth, even wrap. and a screwdriver shaft to lightly burnish the threads and smooth the wraps. 2 or 3 color preserved wraps on the ends of the wraps in a contrasting color will finish it off nicely.
you may be a pro already, and if so, apologies for telling you how to do your job.
