Does anyone have any good tips on how to prevent cross-cuttingthreads when die threading a blank rod by hand?

Any simple, practical ideas on how to keep the die perpendicular?

keep backing it out and keep as many of the shavings out of it as possible,also keep it oiled really good,once you get it started strait it will go real good,but it will hard to thread all the way through,all you can do is try and keep it as clean as possible,been there and done this one a few times,good luck on it.
