Looking for the target fish first is needed before attempting to catch fishes. Keep in mind that fishes stays at the water where there is enough cover, oxygen and food. Be certain to stay at a close distance to this area and you can certainly catch fish there, only you have to pay patience in finding them.

Fishes living there ranges in wide variety. That is why, they do not live in same areas in the water. Different fishes adapt to different conditions of environment. Different fishes can tolerate different salt levels, oxygen amount, food amounts and types, temperature of the water and areas for hiding. Salt is the element that distinguishes most of the fish. Fish used the element of salt to survive. However, there are fishes that cannot survive in areas with lots of salt but there are also fish species that can live in both fresh water and salt water.

Compared to ocean, rivers, reservoirs and freshwater ponds have lesser salt. Majority of the water in North America are bodies of freshwater. In this kind of water, fishes are mostly carp, crappie, bass, catfish and bluegrip. However, many fish species live in the salty water portion of the ocean. This can be attributed to their kidneys. Because of the kidneys of the fish, they are provided with the ability to retain an appropriate balance of salt in their body. Flounder, sea trout, cod and bluefish are some of the more common fishes that can be found in saltwater.

Oxygen is another factor for looking at a perfect spot for fishing. The level of oxygen is important for the fishes to survive. There are some fish that can survive in less oxygen. This is exemplified by the carp species, unlike the trout, which needs sufficient level of oxygen. The presence of living plants in the stream or lake has a significant effect on the oxygen level in the water. These plants increase the oxygen of the water by the process of photosynthesis. This is a process that makes food by the use of sunlight. Oxygen also goes to the water from the air above the water surface.

Specific fish species are found in water depending on food types available in the area. Different areas provide various food types and amount. Since all the fish must eat, there is a big competition among the fishes. And this issue is another important factor that distinguish which species of fish are present in certain area in the water.

Water temperature is another factor. Different fishes tolerate different temperature of water. There are fishes, which are flexible. They are able to live in different ranges in temperature. On the other hand, there are also fishes that need either warm or cold water to live. This can be exemplified with the trout. Trout can only live in cold water. To easily find the certain type of fish, one tip is to know and learn the different water temperature preferences of different fish species. Through this, one will not get difficulty locating the preferred fish types.

As human, we have the ability to control one of the factors when talking about where the fishes live. This is the water quality which is the most common determinants of the specific place to find the fishes. We have the ability to retain high water quality level. Just keep in mind that sufficient oxygen level is very important to let the fish survive. Clean and pollution-free water is another very important factor, but this is actually not enough. There are still some fish species that do not just need clean water. Carp for one can live in not-so-very-clean water. Therefore cleanliness is not enough, high quality of water is the most important factor for the fishes to survive.

Knowing the specific places where to find the target fishes is important for successful fishing. There are several factors that affect the place where fishes most often stay. These are salt level, oxygen level and water temperature. Fishes are all different and have different needs too. That is why, knowing about these different factors to find the area in the water where they live is important for anglers like you.

Fishing has now changed from a means of livelihood to a sport that many people enjoy. In the modern world, fishing is a very good pastime that generates a lot of fun. The sport, however, might die out if nothing is done to maintain a good population of fish in lakes, rivers, and streams.

Since the world is now facing the threat of fish depletion, many anglers have adopted the technique of "catch and release" fishing. Unfortunately, many anglers do not know the technique very well and, consequently, the fish die.

You should take care when you are catching and releasing fish. With a little practise, you will learn the methods of doing it effectively. You can then not only enjoy your hobby, but also maintain a decent population of fish in your local lake or stream.

Extract the Hook Carefully

Start with the hooks. If the fish you have caught is pierced through its mouth, it has a larger chance of survival that a fish that is pierced through its gills. If you have hooked a fish in its guts, cutting off the hook before releasing the fish is the the best thing you can. The fish can then spit out the hook after it dissolves. Sometimes, the fish can continue living comfortably even if it has a rusted hook inside its body.

Remember not to tug on the line or pull the hook out of the fish because this can hurt the fish badly. If you feel you can remove the hook easily, do it with a pair of needle nose pliers. You can extract the hook easily if you separate the barbs from the hooks. Remember not to wiggle the hook as you pull it out.

Grip the Fish Correctly

The way you grip a fish that is out of water makes a whale of a difference. Don't touch a fish with bare hands because the fish has a slippery protective coat around it, which will strip off if you touch it with bare hands. If you must touch a fish, touch it with wet hands. Wearing gloves when you handle fish is the best thing you can do. Gloves not only give you ample protection from cuts and scratches, but also prevent your hands from getting that strong odour of fish.

Keep the Fight Small

The fight that a fish puts up is the greatest source of fun to anglers. Some anglers wait for this almost all day. However, this fight can kill the fish.

Fish are similar to human beings in that they produce a lot of lactic acid during times of physical stress and strain. Just as a human being feels sore all over after a heavy work out, a fish also feels sore after a fight.

The excess quantity of lactic acid in the body of a fish can cause its death even days after its release. If you are trying out the technique of "catch and release," ensure that you minimize the struggle as much as possible.

Release a Fish Quickly

Needless to say, fish cannot survive outside water. It will die if you take too long to release it back into the water.

Don't permit a fish that you have caught to flop around. Flopping around damages the internal organs of a fish, and even if it is released into the water, it can die of injuries.

Revive the Fish

If necessary, you can revive fishes that have passed out. A fish can pass out due to lack of oxygen. To revive it, place it into the water with its belly facing down. Gently grip its tail and move it gently back and forth till it gives you a sign that it has recovered. If necessary, you will have to repeat the procedure.

Remember not to release a fish unless it is ready to swim on its own. A fish that has not yet fully recovered can be swept away by the current and dashed into the rocks.

See that you have all your fishing equipment, including camera, gloves, and pliers ready if you intend to practise the technique of "catch and release." America's most favorite hobby is fishing, and you cannot enjoy it if there are no fish. So save the fish and save the hobby too.

As any angler would tell you fishing is not only fun, but also a peaceful sport that enables you to spend a few quiet moments with friends, family, and nature. The sport of fresh water fishing includes catching fish in rivers, lakes, and streams.

Even children can take part in a fishing trip. However, you need plenty of patience for fishing. It is quite challenging and requires a lot of skill on your part, which you can aquire only with the passage of time.

1. Get a License

To begin with, you have to study the fishing laws and rules of your state and find out if you require a license for fishing. If you need a license, ask at a good sporting goods store for information on how you can acquire one. The people at the sporting goods store will help you get a license. Some will even get it done for you.

2. Purchase Fishing Equipment

In the meantime, you can take a look around the store and purchase some quality fishing equipment for your fishing trip. Since you are only a beginner, purchase only the basic equipment required for a fishing trip. When you have doubts about the equipment you require, don't hesitate to clear them with the store owner.

Remember that you have to stay within the limits of your budget. Don't purchase each and every thing that the store offers you. Although artificial bait is available at the stores, you could try using the worms in your backyard as live bait if you wish to save some money.

For your first fishing trip, you need to purchase only an inexpensive fishing rod, a reel, a line, a hook, a weight, a bobber, some bait, and a net. Purchase a pair of polarized sunglasses too because they will enable you to see through the water clearly without having to suffer an eyestrain due to the rays of the sun.

When you are more experienced, you can purchase quality equipment. Till you gain experience, enjoy fishing with ordinary, basic equipment.

3. Find a Good Fishing Spot

You need to find out about local fishing spots. If you don't know any, ask for information regarding local fishing 'hot spots." You can also check the fishing regulations of your state for information about the best locations for fishing in and around your state.

4. Practise Well

Practise will make you a better angler. When you have sufficiently developed your skill, you can go into deeper waters. Before you venture into deeper waters, ensure that you have practised casting your line well.

The best place to practise is your backyard. Use a rope to mark a practise area in your backyard and pratice casting your line there. Study a number of fishing techniques to find one that suits you best. Use your wrist when you cast, not your arm.

You have to handle fishing hooks with care because they are very sharp. Before you begin your practise in your backyard, make sure that nobody is around. The hook could hurt someone.

When you have had enough pratise in your backyard and you want to try it for real, proceed to a popular fishing spot.

5. Some Fishing Tips

Keep these tips in mind during your first fishing trip.

As far as possible, don't fish alone. Always fish with a friend or a group of friends so that, in case of emergency, there will always be someone to help.

It is not a great idea to fish in shallow waters. Cast your net in shady, deep, and rocky places where the fish are more likely to be.

Remember to cast the line just in front of the fish. Let your bait down slowly without making any splash. The fish can see the things that are close to them, but they cannot see behind them.

If you are casting your line in a haphazard manner, you need to go closer to the water to be able to cast more accurately.

Watch your bobber carefully for any movement. Whenever a fish swallows the bait, the bobber disappears under water. This means that you have caught a fish. Don't let this excite you too much. It is important to be calm, especially at this moment.

Keep the line tight while your reel up your catch. Use your net to get the fish out of the water. Take care while you separate the hook from the fish.

If you have caught a particular size of fish, as specified in your state's fishing regulations book, release it immediately. In the same way, if you don't intend to eat your catch, you had better release it into the water. This will ensure that the lakes, streams, and rivers will be full of fish always so that many more generations of anglers can enjoy this sport.

Before you call it a day, enjoy the calmness and serenity of the river.

In getting ready for fishing in the North Country, here are some tips:
1. Going on a fishing trip in the North Country requires you to invest on your outfit, permits, license, and especially on the vehicle you’ll going to use. Many people consider fishing as the best part of their trip. It is preferred to use a new line for your reel.
2. Before going to the trip, buy a high quality pair of polarized sunglasses. This will definitely protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays and it will also let see well through the water.
3. Prepare separately the mosquito repellant from the plastic worms in different containers. Keep them out of the tackle box since these items has lacquer solvent that can cause softening of paint in plastics, metals, or even wood lure. Softened paint will not turn hard again.
4. You can use a small file or a stone to sharpen your needle and it is wise to keep some of these items.
5. Make sure that your ties are well knot so that it will definitely get hold of the fish.

Here are some guidelines when you’re already fishing:

1. Do not stay on the same location when you have cast the line for more than ten times. Change your location if you have been fishing with any bait for a long time and still you weren’t able to catch any fish.
2. Estimate the position of your canoe from the fish. It should not be very near to the fish to avoid frightening it and it should not be far since it may not be noticed.
3. In top water fishing, make sure that the fish has already been lured before setting the hook so that the fish would not be puzzled. Slowly lure the fish towards your position then set the hook.
4. Endure the wait and be patient. Just make sure that you’re position is in a highly-producing fish region.
5. Keep your silence. Sound waves travel better in water than in air and it may disturb the fish.
6. If you do not plan on eating the fish that you caught, you must cautiously release the fish in water right away. The species of fish in the Ontario waters must be preserved in order for more fingerlings to be produced and for the fishing activities to thrive longer.
7. If you haven’t caught any fish yet or still waiting for you’re next catch, why not breathe in the scene around you? Enjoy the scenery, feel the breeze, savor its Lakeland wilderness.

Fishing License Regulation

In fishing, there are also different regulations to be followed. If you are going to indulge yourself in a fishing activity, you have to bring with you your fishing license. For Canadian residents, they have to be provided with a fishing-version Outdoors card. Attached to this card is a license tag that will validate the card. For non-residents of Canada, they should carry with them their signed basic license form. For it to be valid, the proper licensed tag must be attached to it.

The license card or outdoor card must be brought along every you would go into fishing. The non-resident license card or the fishing-version outdoor card is non-transferable. Only you are entitled to use it. If a Conservation officer asks for your license or outdoor card, you have to show it since it is authorized by law.

State and District Rules and Regulations

Anglers in Ontario have to follow the State and District rules and regulations. The major law implemented by State with regard to fishing in Ontario is the “Fisheries Act”. The act states that the diversity of fish and their habitat must be protected and preserved. This act is implemented by limiting the catch, size, gears and possession of the anglers, controlling fish seasons and building fish sanctuaries. In the provincial level, the “Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act” is being implemented. The act requires the anglers to have their fishing license.

Wildlife Protection and Preservation Authorities

Wildlife Protection and Preservation officers are authorized personnel assigned by the law to search, inspect, seize or arrest any angler or his/her possession if he or she has not followed the States “Fisheries Regulation and Act” or the “Fish and Wildlife Preservation decree” of Ontario.

Under his or her duty, a Conservation officer may perform any of the following:
a. Conduct examination and review of buildings;
b. Halt any vehicle, boat or aircraft and examine it;
c. Inquire relevant information significant to their inspection;
d. Confiscate certain items from an angler, if such items are not permitted by the law to be used in the Ontario waters;
e. Take into custody anyone which the Conservation officer believes that has performed or committed a violation against the State and district rules and regulations.
f. Provided with a warrant, they can investigate and search any facility, vehicle, possessions, etc.
g. If immediate attention and action are required in a certain situation, they can investigate even without a warrant.

Fishing Seasons

Fishing seasons have different opening and closing dates depending on the species inhabiting the area. The law prohibits fishing during close seasons since these are the times that species are very susceptible. Yet, there are certain species that have year-round open season which is declared by law.

Ready to go fishing? Is your fishing boat ready for action? How about your very own fishing supplies and equipments? Don't waste your time bringing so many supplies and equipments; instead take the most important things you will really need.

Fishing is surely one of the most thrilling and at the same time relaxing outdoor activity for those adventurous types of people. It is indeed one way to get in touch with nature and to experience the whole outdoor wilderness. And wouldn't you agree that fishing is somewhat like an entirely different world?

Throughout history, fishing has undergone numerous changes due technological developments that occur every now then. Although technology can change the way to catch fish, still, fishing will always be the most loved pastime by everyone and enjoyed by all ages. Now, just go ahead and get your fishing rod and lures and go fishing in any water body you may think of. But wait; did you prepare your fishing supplies and equipments?

Fishing supplies and equipments may vary from the type of fishing you will engage in. Some fishermen don't use fishing nets while others are fond of using it. Some make use of fishing pole holders while some people do not. But whatever it is you must have these important fishing supplies and equipments.

First and foremost, one of the main factors of good fishing is to have those very useful fishing tackle and equipment.

Of all your fishing supplies, the most important are, of course, your rod and reel and line and bait. To obtain maximum performance of these very demanding pricey tools, you have to keep it regularly cleaned and properly maintained. But still there are so many possible alternative fishing supplies.

Not all fisherman use fishing net to fish. Oftentimes fishing nets are very functional. If you are thinking of catching and then releasing the fish, it is certain that fishing nets are very helpful. The faster you can get it and let go of it, the better. Whatever type of fishing you will be engaging in, you are still going to need an assortment of fishing nets.

For a fisherman a fishing pole holder can be a very functional instrument. There is no better way to free up both hands than to utilize a fishing rod. When a fishing rod holder is used, it allows you to do more and multi-task. Now you can clear and remove fish from hooks. And in truth, the use of such a tool even allows a fisherman to gobble down a sandwich freely while fishing.

But, before going out to fish, proper clothing must be worn. No one knows how the weather might change all of a sudden. Considering the weather, proper outdoor attire is very important. Bringing a rain suit is a must even on a warm summer day because who knows how the weather might be. You have been told and warned. Bring a rain suit; it would protect you when you are caught in torrential rain and might save you from hypothermia.

Always keep the bags and boxes clean and dry before using it for your tackles. Just after every season, empty your tackle box or bag and wash the inside of it. Let it dry. Then lubricate the zippers of the bag or the hinges of your tackle box.

Also check your hooks if they are still sharp. Simply because a blunt hook is not doing a good job, you will lose a fish for that.

In a dry container, put the weights and smaller items there for storage and all the tools must be cleaned and polished. Always bring your hook remover or pliers along and it must be in good working condition because when you have catch and release in mind, the life of the fish is at risk, and every second counts.

Give your lures some attention. If their paint is chipped or they are broken, it would not hurt to buy a can of enamel to repaint it. It will give them a new look and a charter of life.

Always replace your fishing line before going out. Over time, the line will become brittle and you will lose a fish and might ruin your whole day of fishing if you don't care about the tool that connects you to your catch, the fish.

Lastly, do remember to keep and stock up rubber worms and such things in synthetic bags, separated also by color. Because of the substances they contain most of the baits will have a chemical reaction to firm plastic boxes and might burn when they touch that and will result in a horrible, clammy mess and will ruin your clean tackle box.

A pike by definition is a kind of fish that is mainly found in the northern region of America, and northern hemisphere in general. It is common to find the pike fish in Europe, Dakota and Russia. Most fishermen describe the pike as one of the most exciting and adventurous fish to catch, especially during winter. Fishing for other types of fish is quite a hustle especially during the winter, as the fish tend to shut down and hide. The pike however is different because even with the change of weather it is still readily available in most lakes.

The winter period is characterized by ice, even on the surface of large water bodies where fishing is done. Fishing for the pike fish thus require some tips, especially when done during the winter period. According to devotees of pike fishing, the major secret behind pike fishing is to be able to locate the actual location of the fish and be able to attract the pike fish with food.

On the onset of the winter season, the bigger pike fish is easily found in shallow waters. The explanation for this is because during this period, Whitefish and Tulibees are found in shallow water at this time and form very good meals for the pike fish. One of the secrets therefore that is used to catch the pike fish during the winter season is to ensure that one gets there early, so that by the time the pike fish comes out to enjoy its meal for the day, it is caught.

Different lakes have different sizes of pike fish. This variation in size is brought by the nature of the habitat a particular lake provides to the pike fish. An ideal habitat will facilitate growth of fish and vice versa. One may wonder why there should be tips of catching the pike fish. Why can't the ordinary methods of fishing be used? The answer is rather simple. Although they may be easier to catch, they are not easy to locate especially during the winter and that's the reason why one must have some fishing tips to be able to catch the pike fish. In addition, pike fish keep moving from the fishing line one too many times making the work rather tiresome. It is thus a challenge though adventurous and exciting to catch the pike fish.

As already mentioned, the pike fish feeds on Whitefish and Tulibee which are types of fish. This means that the pike fish is a carnivorous kind of fish. The pike fish is one kind of fish that behaves strangely. Besides eating other kinds of fish, it sometimes feeds on rats, mice and other small rodents and has also been spotted feeding on the young ones of a duck and even other pike fish! Pike fish are fierce in nature and have the characters of predators.

It is the aggression that the pike fish have that makes pike fishing adventurous and fun. Catching pike fish during winter is more fun and exciting. Besides the manner in which the pike fish are caught during this season, it is also the only fish that is readily available in most lakes during the cold winter season.

However, pike fish is not only available during the cold season but is actually available all round the year and that makes it more preferable to other types of fish that are available seasonally.

Harlequin fish is one of the aquarium keeper’s favorites, since the fish have colorful figures. The fish are shaped like wedges, which blue-black shades setoff its rosy pink and violet forms. Harlequin fish are easily trained; as well, the fish do well in communal tanks. The species however are beautiful formed and colored that residing in a sole tank could produce natural effects to your home area.
In addition to the Harlequin, is the Cobitidae family. This fish will help keep tanks clean by gnawing at algae. The scavengers are similar to Carps, in that the fish have teeth. This family of fish also has four barbel located in its upper jaw. The fish are akin to any European freshwater Cyprinids. Cyprinids are family to minnows and Carps, which the fish sometimes have round scales, softer fins, and toothless jaws. Spiny Loach is the family of Cobitidae. This fish composes bifid spines, which is located beneath the eyes. The bifid will erect from its folded, flat position if the fish is put to the test. Predatorily fish will not like the results produced by this fish in the event they decide to challenge the Spiny Loach. Spiny Loaches and Cobitidae fish tend to surface often to seek oxygen. The fish prefer to live in murky, mud-spattered waters. The murkiness and mud limits oxygen, which is why the fish surface often. Weather Fish is amongst the group of Spiny Loaches, which this fish will not adapt well to atmospheric situations, which cause stress.

The Loach fish include the group of Acanthophthalmus Semicinctus family. The fish come from the east parts of India and grow up to 3 ½ inches in size. The fish is popularly called the Half Band Coolie. The Coolie fish have bodies shaped like a snake, which the body covers yellow and black marks. You can find the sub-species of the Coolie family in the Kuhlii family. Kuhlii fish tend to fall into the Salmon category, since the fish may have pink bellies, as well as yellow and black marks. Coolie fish are communal tank fish, which have a peaceful nature. The tanks should be limited to plants, since this fish will hide in closed spaces. As well, the fish will eat all foodstuffs. Coolie fish do not place a high demand on water condition, yet they tend to do well in moderate or neutral waters. The water temperature should remain at 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fishing has grown to become much of professions just as it's an occupation to many people. People catch fish and other varieties of marine products for food as much as means of earning livelihood.

People invest in fishing because it has proven to a worthy venture that pays back. The invest lots of cash on purchase of gears and equipments. The do all this to improve and enhance the fishing, because fishing has become business to them.

To other folks, mostly the adventure lovers and extroverts, fishing is much of a sport as much as it's a game. They fish for fun and relaxation. They derive fun from fishing because it gives them mental peace and tranquility.

The Bass fly fishing is the kind of fishing that involves the use of man-made fly. It is very different from the customary methods of fishing used by fly fishers, where they cast hooks with bits of feather, foam, yarn or fur attached or some similar kind of material to create what is referred to as a fly as compared to using worms or some other kind of bait.

The so called pro bass fishing is similar to the common fly-fishing that we know. Their difference is that pro bass fishing involves a professional in the activity of fishing. Most of these are people well respected in their specific line of fishing activity. They are considered experts because of their devotion and much love in the fishing game inclusive of their contributions.

Of all these types of fly fishing, the widely known and the most standard of them all is the dry fly fishing. This one involves a fisherman using man-made fly, which when cast, it floats on the water. This artificial fly will pass over the fish and entice it to make an effort and grab it. The fisherman will then use his skills to prevent the fish from escaping, until it gets tired and he can retrieve it from the water with the landing net.

Many fishermen prefer this kind of fly fishing, because all the activity is visible - the fisherman casts on the fish he can observe, the fly is visible to him on the water surface and he can easily see as the fish bites the fly. The disadvantage of this fishing method is that trout's and some other fish type tend to do their feeding in the lower depths of the water and cannot be easily caught using this type dry fishing method.

The other type of fly fishing is the so called the nymph fishing. This one involves the nymphs that hatch from eggs that flies lay in the rivers or lakes, these nymphs come to the water surface to and hatch into flies. Nymph fishing therefore utilizes the imitation of these nymphs that are specially created so that they float in water. This type of fly fishing is often considered tricky.

Bass fly fishing has grown to be largely popular game, and many anglers will tell you that it not simply about catching fish. Don't be surprised that some fishermen even consider fly fishing as some type of religion, an regard it a soothing leisure that can be enjoyed by all types of people. It also seems to be more environmentally friendly, because it is not harmful to fish as compared to other fishing techniques and majority of anglers release their catch.

Professional bass fly fishing required equipments and gears that could aide the fisher be more productive and have a successful fishing. There are some equipment that are mostly used, but some are more used by professional bass fishers.

The rod is among the fisherman's most essential equipments, and has to be chosen with caution. For starters, the more basic rod and reel set is usually enough; the other features and materials are not necessary essential. it is important for a fresher fisherman to learn the basics of using the rod, and also be more accustomed with it, before they can move to more sophisticated piece of gears.

Professional bass fishing provides the feeling of tranquility and is much fun, it also provides freshers to prove to themselves that they've got the talent in fishing because of the challenges that the sport offers.

The fishing sport is not all about just fishing; it also offers things are with nature. In the fishing game, the devotees previously learnt how to appreciate the environ, due to the settings and the locations of the activities which are much beyond the beauty of nature.

Professional bass fishing not is more than just an entertainment; it gives a complete pack of adventures.

We've all been in your predicament. You're looking for that well deserved promotion at work and you know one piece of information about the boss that nobody else knows (or they don't want to admit), he/she loves to fish. He/She's been bugging everybody in the office to spend some time on his luxury boat doing some freshwater fishing but the boss doesn't get a nibble. Well it's your turn at bat, get ready to strike a home run.

Ok, so let's start with the basics. You are going to need to spend a little of that hard earned money at your local Walmart or Bait and Tackle Shop to bring your fishing tools into the new millennium. If you want to impress the boss, you don't want to show up with your Snoopy Zebco Rod/Reel combo that you used twenty years ago to reel in those monster minnows. You need to sell yourself as an angler and not just a fishing person.

Just like Picasso needed an easel and nice set of paintbrushes, you need to get yourself a quality rod and reel. Most Bait Shops and Sporting Good stores sell those combo kits which will likely work for your situation. The great aspect of these kits is that the rod and reel are tailored for one another. Fishing rods (remove the words fishing pole from your vocabulary) come in just about every conceivable format. You'll want to do some preliminary homework in determining where your boss plans to take you and what you will be fishing for. Try to work it in between your meetings about TPS reports and such. What you are interested in is what species of fish you are likely targeting. If you don't want to seem to obvious, just find out what body of water you plan to fish and then open up old google and do a search for it with the keywords "fish report" added on. You will get a wealth of information from forums or local fishing reports regarding the body of water in question and the types of fish you are likely to catch. Once you figure out the species you'll base your rod/reel purchasing off of that.

If you are targeting most species of fish (largemouth, smallmouth, panfish, walleye, catfish), you can probably get away with a five to six foot rod. Anything smaller could easily snap if you happen to tag a huge catfish or even a good size largemouth bass. Anything bigger and you'll be whipping the lips off of those poor innocent panfish. Pay special attention to the limber quality of the rod. While Ultralight rods will give you a better feel for the bite, they will make reeling in that lunker that much harder and increase your chance of having to tell stories about the one that got away. Your best bet is to stay neutral and get a Medium weight pole. It will be sturdy enough for most breeds of freshwater fish.

Fishin Reels now come in mind numbing assortment of types and sizes. You might remember your old faithful Zebco reel where you never saw the fishing line, it just disappeared into the endless depths of snoopy's mouth. These types of reels are known as closed faced reels. If you want to impress the man, forget this type. While it is the easiest reel to use, it is kids play. You need to look seasoned for your adventure. You might next notice the really pricey reels known as bait casters. Yeah, you've put in your time watching ESPN Bass Masters tournaments and noticed the pro's using these types of reels like it was an extension of their arm. They just whip their bait out and yank in the lunkers. For your adventure, skip the bait casting reels. If any piece of fishing equipment can make a six foot, two hundred and fifty pound grown man weep in agony, this is the one. It takes years to get the right feel for this device and you will have better luck at figuring out a rubic's cube (ahem, no pulling the stickers off) then trying to get a successful cast out of this reel. So my recommendation for your expedition would be the old faithful Open Faced Spinning Reel. Yes, you'll need to do some practice casting before you venture out for your trip just to get the hang of this one. The sporting goods shop that you visit for your supplies should also sell little plastic plugs called practice or casting plugs. Get you a couple of these and practice in the backyard. Put a bucket out about twenty feet and see if you can hammer your plug home.

To make things even more complicated, you'll notice some numbers on the spool (the part of the reel that your fishing line is wound around). Numbers such as 6lb/150yd, 8lb/100yd, 10lb/75yd. No, these are shot put records, these are the line capacities. Fishing line comes in various "strengths" which are measured in the good old English system, pounds. Basically, this is the maximum amount of fish poundage you could catch with the fishing line you have installed. So if you are going for catfish, which can easily get up into the twenty pound size, you'll want a fishing line that is rated in that neighborhood. So your probably thinking, well why not just go big( i do it with McDonalds value meals, it should work here. right). Well, you'll notice that the bigger the poundage the less line (measured in yds) you'll be able to put on your reel. This means when you see the fish jumping out in the water 150 yds and you cast out with only 100 yds on your reel, you'll fall short. Any you definitely don't want to fall short in front of your new best friend. So it's imperative that you match up your fishing line to the type of fish you are going for.

I've got two wonderful tips to give you when it comes to fishing line. Number one, pay that extra ten bucks and get an extra spool. Have the sporting goods shop string it up for you with a different pound fishing line just in case the fish get big. This is an invaluable back up plan in case you get the dreaded bird's nest of death, one quick removal of the old spool and your back in action. Deal with the dreaded fishing string birds nest another day. Tip Number Two, remove your fishing spool from your fishing reel and drop it in a glass of warm water overnight. No, you won't grow a fishing fairy that you can take along but what this does is help mold the line to your spool. This helps in preventing those birds nest after your bazillenth cast. Its one of the smartest things you can do with new fishing line.

So lets take tally of what you've got in your shopping cart..rod,reel and fishing line. Hmm, we seem to be missing something. Yep, we need some form of bait. Well this is where your research into where you'll be heading comes in. Generally the information you find regarding what types of fish you will be catching will also point you into the direction of what these fish bite on. If you strike out online, ask the youngest looking employee in the fishing section of the sporting good store what the fish hit on at that particular lake. Why the youngest, because they have the most free time on their hands so they probably have the experience (I worked at a Bait and Tackle store for three years when I was in my teens. I worked there not because I needed the money, but because I got the scoop on the best fishing spots and also got a killer discount on bait and tackle). Go with their recommendations and stock up. If you can afford it, get at least two of each of what they recommend. The best fishing spots are also the best spots to loose fishing gear( think sunken tree's). The worst feeling you can have is to be nailing the fish and loose the only thing they are hitting on.

So there you go. Armed with this basic information, you should be able to set yourself up for fishing success. One more thing to keep in mind, don't catch more than your boss or you could find yourself out fishing for a new job.
If your looking for a great source of information regarding fishing Utah, including fishing reports, in-depth analysis of local lakes and other valuable data visit my blog at:
http://www.fishingutah.net

If you had the chance to explore all saltwater and freshwater fish, it would take you thousands of years. Therefore, if you are just starting in fish care and aquariums you want to learn minimal details on starter fish. Everyone has their own notion as to which fish are best for starters, therefore my goal is to inform you, rather than instruct on starter fish. Still, I will provide you helpful information that you can use to sort through aggressive and passive fish. The passive, peaceful, and easy to maintain fish are in my opinion the best fish for starters. Now we start with the Symphysodon aequifasciata and s. discus fish, which is known as the Discus Fish. The name alone would make the common starter take a run for a name they could pronounce, yet the fish name is a scare, which denounces the fish’s identity. This fancy fish is brilliantly colored in aqua green with a brownish tint that offsets his eyes, small mouth, and black marked body. The Discus is one of the tropical fish that lives in freshwater. Discuss prefers water temperatures set at 82 degrees and no higher than 88 degrees Fahrenheit. The pH level should set at 6.0 and not beyond 6.5. Density: 3 to 5 degrees:

The Discus is slow feeders that tend to reside by themselves. The fish will live in communal tank water, yet they will find their own corners to hang. Some of the recommended fish to share space with the Discus is the smaller and peaceful Corydoras catfish, cardinal tetras, and the Rasbora. Few of the Discus fish are decorated in bright cyan red and turquoise, which makes the fish appealing to tank water. Before you purchase discus breeds, take care to review the health of these fish. It is next to impossible to save an ill discus’s life.

Discus has a shy nature. The peaceful fish enjoys slowness, and is finicky when dining. The foodstuff desired includes, live bait, frozen foods, beef heart shredded, Tubifex, etc. You want to avoid Tubifex although the fish enjoy the meal well, since these fish are prone to disease. You can feed the pet Tubifex, yet it is advised that you wash the foodstuff carefully.

If you want to feed a fancier fish, then checkout the Bettas, Gouramies and the Fighting Siamese Fish. The fish spread out in the waters of Asia and live well in aquariums. The fancy fish including the Siamese Fighting Fish, Fighting Cocks, and the Strains are popular fish that has been spotted on live sporting events. The fish are commonly exploited in Thailand’s’ land. The fish enjoy battling. Most of the fish available have a variety of colors to select from, including the beautiful shimmering red fish, blue fish, bicolor fish, and so on. Albinos are available as well.

In all fish are summed up as saltwater (Marine) fish or freshwater (Non-Marine) fish. The Freshwater fish include tropical fish and the coldwater fish. The tropical is more desirable for starters in fish care and aquarium keep. At pet stores, online, etc, you will find a wide array of tropical, saltwater, and coldwater fish.

Keep in mind that Marine fish are more prone to saltwater, since the fish come from salty marine waters, such as the seas, oceans, etc. Freshwater fish tend to come from rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, and so on. Having an idea of what type of water the fish dwells in can give you a running start to figuring out what type of water is best suited for your fish. Still, most pet stores provide instructions, which you should read carefully in your fish care expedition. Don’t forget the filtration systems.
