Abercrombie & Fitch fishing reels and rods?

I just found out that, Abercrombie & Fitch used to sell fishing rods & reels!!! Search Abercrombie & Fitch fishing rod or fishing reel in Google and see for yourself.

Yea Abercrombie & Fitch use to be a top outdoors outfitter and sometime in the 80's was loosing money and started to just do clothing and as the years went by gradually moved to the hipster, douche bag uniforms we know today. I actually found out while watching an old episode of M*A*S*H when a heatwave hit the camp and Hawkeye order a folding tub to soak in to beat the heat and Radar said the package was from Abercombie & Fitch. I thought it was odd that in 1951 they would receive a package from them and it was a folding camping tub. Did a bit of research and found out they use to be a totally different company.

Fishing is very fun. I love to go fishing but I do not get to go as often as I would like. You know how it is, things like work and the every day things of life get in the way and you just do not have time to go fishing. That is just the way life is and you will just have to deal with it.

I am going to be talking about the E21 Carrot Stix and giving a little review on it and its features. This is a nice rod with a one piece design. The one peice designs make the rods stronger and that is what you want, a nice strong and durable rod.

Another feature that people like about this rod is the Velvet touch split grips. These grips help you to be able to detect even the slightest bite. You can even balance the weight on this rod which is just amazing. It sure is a full featured rod!

This rod has a Even stress distribution, meaning that the stress can be even distributed over the blank.

This rod is made of Cellulose Bio-Fiber blank material making this rod a real strong fish fighting rod for the professional or even un-experienced angler!

The E21 Carrot Stix fishing rod is also very very light. A light rod is perfect for hours of fishing. Holding a large heavy rod can sure get tiring after a while but rods like these, you might even forget this one is in your hand. This rod weighs just an amazing 3.2 ounces. Some of my big rods must weigh 4 pounds it seems.

Bass Fishing Tackle For The "Average Joe" Fisherman

The fishing rod is the first basic piece of tackle the average bass fisherman needs to consider. I recommend a medium or medium light action graphite spinning rod. I advise buying a rod six foot long. This rod can be used in a variety of different fishing conditions.

As you become more experienced you will see the need for more specialized rods at times. I have always used Berkley or Fenwick rods and found them to always be up to the task at hand. You should purchase your rod and reel simultaneously. I advise mounting the reel on the rod and holding it before you make a choice.

The rod and reel combo should feel right. Hold the rod direct above where the reel is seated. If you point the rod perpendicular to your body it should balance in a straight line. If it does not the reel may be too big or heavy and need to be replaced with a lighter one.

Your next consideration is the reel. For the average fisherman I recommend an open faced spinning reel. The key here is to match the reel to the line you will be using. I like a reel that holds approximately 150 yards of 8 lb fishing line.

I also like a reel with an excellent drag system. You have two choices regarding drag. I prefer reels that have a drag in the back of the reel. For me these drags are easier to adjust. Other people prefer the drag to be in the front of the reel on top of the spool. I consider this a matter of personal preference.

Try both and go with what feels best to you. When you purchase a reel you will see a term "gear ratio". They affect the power of the reel. The higher the gear ratio the more line that will be retrieved by each 360 degree turn of the handle.

For line I recommend monofilament line with a test of 8-12 lb. This is as close to an all purpose line that you can get. Again as you become more experienced you will see the need for lighter and heavier lines. I use Berkley Trilene line but have tried all the major brands and found them to be good. They key is to match your line to the reel you have chosen.

I like to keep 150 yards of line on my reel. If your reel holds 150 yards of 10 lb line then I advise using that weight. You should always keep an extra spool of line on hand. You should also constantly check your line for nicks and other imperfections that can cause a fish to be lost.

Youre question makes very little sense but i will try to help you out, you will need fly line, i like sage, rio and airflo, buy a good line if nothing else becuase its the most important bit, also you will need backing on your reel, dacron is fine.
I use gel-spun backing, very light,strong and you get lots on the spool if you know your fighting hard fish such as stocked rainbows and steelhead etc, but general dacron is fine for every day use,

The last thing if youre having trouble with casting you need a weight forward line not DT, also to improve youre turnover use a tapered leader without the braided loop, then attach your tippet to that.

One of the most important tools for catching fish is the fishing rod. The act of fishing is very relaxing, invigorating and it tells a thing or two about how aquatic life is and also the lesson of being patient.ofcourse, eating what you caught is a high in itself. There is very good competition between many of the fishermen and they try and oust the other by one way or the other. Using the right kind of tools can help to attain success and come out as the winner.

One of the first and foremost considerations to having the right tool is to choose what you want to catch. When you know what to catch, you can decide the size of the tool you would use. Determining the type of fish one needs to catch can only lead to the right choice for the fishing rod. Other things to be kept in mind while fishing is the size of the fish, water conditions and the method of fishing. Having a sound idea about all the above factors greatly improve the chances of catching fish before even actually being near the water.

A fly fishing rod is usually best suited for either catching trout or salmon. A flexible fishing rod is what one will need to catch these fishes. To bring home the fish you desire, you would need the right fishing rod to start with and then followed by the line, nets and various other tools. When catching salmon, one has to continuously hold the fishing rod and therefore one should see the grip of the rod before buying it. You would feel that the fishing rod is a tad too expensive when you buy it but it would be well worth the price after you hold that salmon u caught in your hand.

Fly fishing rods for sale are available throughout the country and are a good bet for a good catch. If winter fishing is what you like and want then there are ice fishing rods that can be used in a frozen lake. These rods allow you to fish in frozen water through holes. The ice fishing rods, owing to the rough conditions it’s used in are much more durable and strong than other types of fishing rods. In case of coarse fishing, you need a carbon fiber rod. This type of rod is best for catching any of the cyprinid family. That is the primary reason to know the type of fish you need to catch before buying the fishing rod. Other types of rods are spinning rod, ultra light and surf rods. All fishing rods are designed for different types of fish and one need to see what one is most comfortable with. The amount of money you can spend is another big factor but I would advise to not compromise for sub standard rods for it may be all worth while when you have that fish in your hand.

If there is one technique that not many people consider when heading to the lake it’s trolling fly lines and it can produce some of the best fishing imaginable. This technique hasn’t had a real chance to prove itself as fly fishermen don’t do it often because a lot of the joy comes from casting and using finesse to persuade the fish to bite. If they’re going to troll why not just break out the spinning or bait-casting gear. On the other side of the coin, non-fly fishermen tend to be intimidated by fly rods and think that it’s both expensive and difficult to learn. Truth be told you can get a fly rod for a very reasonable price these days and it’s actually fairly simple to pick up the basics with minimal practice. More expensive gear and different casting techniques comes with experience, but for this technique you don’t need either. You don’t even need to know how to cast!

There are a wide variety of fish you can target with this method. It is a great technique for all trout species, even early and late season lake trout. But also bass, walleye, pike and pretty much anything else that swims in under 25ft. of water can be fished this way. For me, this is the single most consistent method for catching still water trout.

Go get yourself a fly rod and as I said it doesn’t have to be an expensive outfit though there are certain advantages to things like multiplier, or large arbour reels, as the retrieve ratio is greater and you will be able to gain line quicker on a fish running toward the boat. A standard 9 ft. rod is perfect; anywhere from a 5 weight to a 7 weight are ideal in most situations, but if you’re looking for bigger fish go with a heavier weight; lighter for smaller fish. Personally I like to use a 7 weight because it has enough backbone to work a variety of baits. There is a wide variety of line on the market and the body of water you’re fishing should dictate what “type” to use. There are six types of full sink line: type 1 – type 6. Type 1 runs the shallowest and type 6 the deepest. I use type 6 almost exclusively as it can get down faster and you can effectively fish around the 18 – 22 ft range with a lot of baits. An electric motor and fish finder are certainly advantageous as trout can be easily spooked and it can be crucial to know your depth so you can work your lines along the bottom structure properly. Bring along a good selection of flies such as shrimp and streamer patterns. It’s always a good idea to check with the local tackle shops to see what’s working. Lures like flatfish, quikfish, hot shots and rapalas are excellent choices to bring as long as they don’t have much dive to them and have high action while trolling dead slow. Pick up some fluorocarbon leader material. Leaders in the 9 – 12 ft range are best. I usually use Berkley Vanish and if I’m using something other than a fly, which I usually do, always tie a swivel into the leader or you will have quite the mess on your hands.

“Ripping” flies is one of the most consistent techniques for picking up active fish. Make a nice long fluorocarbon leader, no need for a swivel down to your fly, all on your type 6 sinking line. Don’t be afraid to use big flies! My best fly has always been a double shrimp pattern on a #2 hook. The key to ripping is exactly what it sounds like. Let your line out until the backing, keeping the trolling speed a little higher than what you might be used to and repetitively jerk the rod as hard as you can. The more power the better! This is another benefit of the heavier 7 weight rod; it makes this motion a lot easier on the arms. Essentially, this will make your fly almost swim through the water like a jerk bait and you get a lot of impulse strikes.

If you want to switch to hardware make sure you check the action of your lure at the side of the boat before you lower your line so you know how to gauge the speed for your troll. For example, flatfish are designed to have a lot of action at a very slow rate of speed, so by trolling dead slow you achieve the perfect action which you will notice on your rod tip, and be able to get deeper than lures that require faster action. So, when you want to get to some deeper fish with your type 6 line troll dead slow with a flatfish, kwikfish, or hot shots and you can effectively fish close to the 20 ft mark.

Getting used to the way the lines follow the boat is very important if you want to work an area properly. Let your line out to the backing if you’re fishing deeper than 12 – 15 ft. Fly lines have much greater water resistance than standard line and due to the thicker diameter it won’t cut the water like monofilament. For example, when you make a fairly sharp turn with fly line it will swing more with your turn and follow the path of the boat instead of cut across water and thus stalling your lure. This allows you to work your bait more effectively. When you get used to fishing this way you can estimate your depth and where behind the boat your fly, or lure, is running to within a few feet. Boat control is absolutely crucial when working deeper structure and you can actually work the lines to ride right up a drop off or sink down, whatever the case may be. So, if you’re trolling in 20’ feet of water and you see that the bottom is rising, all you have to do is gradually speed up so your line is elevated by water resistance caused by the speed of the boat. The reverse is also true when you come to a drop off; slow right down and let the line sink with the bottom and speed back up when your line is deep enough. This will put more fish in your boat and you’ll find a lot fun out of concentrating on the bottom and trying to work it properly. Some of my bigger fish have been caught while stalling on a drop off to let the lines sink, then as soon as you kick into gear hold on!

Even though this is not a popular technique it is not due to its lack of productivity. The only reason is that people never think to do it. There are so many different situations where you can apply this technique. I’ve had enormous success fishing for bass, walleye and pike with crankbaits and flies. Another great place to give this a shot is salmon fishing on the west coast. I’ve done very well fishing for coho, pink and sockeye salmon on a third rod out the back in between my downriggers. One of the biggest things to learn in fishing is to be versatile if you want to be consistently successful. Give this technique a shot and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
